Message from Mrs. Lisa Colvin:
I am so pleased to be serving this community as the Assistant Principal of Manteo Elementary School. This year, I have seen many students who are practicing our three Rs: Respect, Responsibility and Resourcefulness. I have also heard great feedback from parents, teachers, and the community on the good manners of our students.
In addition to the behaviors that were expected on a daily basis, we continue to recognize students who are going above and beyond expectations with tickets! Students earn tickets who are showing teamwork, paying compliments, and doing extra things in order to keep our school climate positive. Our guidance counselors train 5th grade students to run the school store, where all students may purchase items with their tickets, providing practice in decision making and economics. (Do I save tickets for the big items, or spend them now on the smaller items?) Teachers, custodians, staff members, and even bus drivers join in recognizing these positive behaviors.
