AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GRADES

We thought it would be important to explain the grading procedures we follow at MES for Special classes.

K, 1st and 2nd graders do not receive grades for any special classes. We feel strongly that communicating how and what students are learning is handled more effectively through our regular PTA Newsletters. As all primary age children grow and develop uniquely at their own pace and time, we continually monitor them as they progress through each curriculum. During these three years, some will progress faster, some slower- this is very normal. Our policy is that all children are progressing at an appropriate rate for their age. If there are specials concerns or special successes, we will let you know as they happen, with phone calls or with notes included with their report cards.

3rd - 5th graders  receive grades and comments on their Report Cards which reflect their skills and efforts in Art, Music and Physical Education.  Students are also evaluated in Spanish classes, but these evaluations will not be included with the regular report cards.

We hope this information helps. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have questions or concerns.
